I finally finished the paper butterfly shadow box (frame?) that I've been working on. I've always liked butterfly shadowboxes (for some reason dead butterflies doesn't strike me as morbid, but it probably should). They can be really pricey though, and I really don't have the money to buy one. This project was actually really easy and cheap and I think it's more feminine and cute than a real shadowbox would be. I bought the frame for $2 at DI and repainted it. It was sort of plastic-y so the paint didn't stay on as well as I thought it would, but in the end that worked out well because it made the frame look kind of worn and vintage. I cut the butterflies out from scraps of paper and bought a 12x12 sheet of paper (50 cents) for the back of the frame. Then I folded the butterflies and glued them on. Super easy.
